Five steps.
We handle most of them.

The process can feel complex from the outside. It is not. We have been doing this for nearly 30 years and every step is familiar to us. We stay with you through all of them.

1

Submit your CV

Tell us who you are, what you teach, and where you are open to going. You can apply before you graduate — any offer will be conditional on your qualification being in hand.

2

Pre-interview

Selected candidates are invited to a personal interview — in person or online. Only those with a strong match are contacted. Your employment, qualifications, and background are verified by our team.

3

School matching

We forward your profile to schools that are the right fit. Not every school — the right ones. Friends may apply together, though placement at the same school cannot be guaranteed.

4

Visa & documentation

Your school initiates the visa process once a position is confirmed. We guide you through every step. In-country visa costs are borne by the school. Home-country visa costs are yours to carry.

5

You arrive

A school representative meets you at the airport. Before departure we prepare you fully — documentation, what to expect, and connections to teachers who have already made the same move.

South African classroom — Eduplace teacher placements
A teacher who managed 45 learners in a township school with limited resources is genuinely exceptional. International schools understand that immediately.

Two markets.
Different requirements.

The Middle East and China are our primary international markets. The qualification bar differs between them — China has a lower threshold, which makes it a strong entry point for newer teachers.

🌙

Middle East

UAE  ·  Kuwait  ·  Qatar  ·  Saudi Arabia

The most established international market for SA teachers. Competitive packages, world-class schools, and a growing SA teacher community across the region. Strong demand year-round.

Minimum 1–2 years full-time teaching experience
Valid passport with at least 2 years remaining
General health check required prior to visa issuance

The package
beyond the salary.

Benefits vary by school and country. These are what many of our placements include. Full package details are confirmed and agreed before you accept any position.

✈️

Return airfare

Airfare is included as part of the Middle East package. In some cases the school requires payment upfront with reimbursement — this is always confirmed before departure. Your departure city can be chosen, though alternatives may apply in exceptional circumstances.

🏠

Accommodation

Many schools provide furnished accommodation or a housing allowance. Where shared accommodation is offered, you will have your own room. Common areas — kitchen, living room, bathroom — are shared with fellow foreign teachers.

💊

Medical cover

Most positions include health benefits. The extent of cover varies by institution and country. Full medical details are confirmed in your individual contract before you commit to anything.

📅

Paid holidays

National holidays that fall within your working schedule are paid. Vacation time beyond this varies by employer and the standards of the country you are working in. Sick leave terms are specified in each individual contract.

🏆

Completion bonus

Many schools offer a contract completion bonus for teachers who fulfil their full contract term. Details and amounts vary — confirmed in your individual contract before signing.

🤝

Airport reception

The school sends a representative to meet you on arrival. You will not land and navigate alone. Pre-departure preparation begins before you leave — we connect you with teachers who have already made the same move.

The practical
details.

The questions most teachers ask once they've decided they want to go — answered plainly.

Visa

Who handles the visa?

Your school initiates the employment visa process once your position is confirmed. Eduplace guides you through every step. Visa costs in the host country are covered by the school. Costs associated with obtaining your visa in South Africa are your responsibility.

Timelines vary depending on the country, time of year, and visa type. We will give you realistic expectations for your specific placement.

Salary

What will I earn?

Salaries vary by school, country, qualifications, and years of experience. The Middle East offers tax-advantaged earnings — meaning your take-home is often significantly higher than a comparable SA salary.

Full salary and benefit details are provided and agreed before you accept any offer. You will know exactly what you are committing to.

Friends & family

Can I apply with a friend?

Yes. Friends are welcome to apply together and we will note the request. We cannot guarantee placement at the same school — this depends on the schools' requirements and timing.

Family placements are accommodated where possible, particularly in Qatar and the UAE. Raise this with us when you apply.

Questions
answered directly.

Eligibility
Most positions require a completed undergraduate degree from an accredited university. China placements require a bachelor's degree. Middle East positions additionally require a teaching qualification and minimum experience. If you are unsure whether your qualifications meet the threshold, submit your CV and we will assess it directly.
Yes. You may apply and begin the process before graduating. Any offer made will be conditional on your degree being in your possession or on providing official proof of graduation. Apply now and we will time the process accordingly.
Only candidates who are a strong match for current or upcoming positions will be contacted for an interview. If there is no current vacancy that suits your profile, we keep your details on file and contact you when a suitable position arises.
You are welcome to apply regardless. We hold your details on file and contact you as soon as a position matches your profile. We recruit throughout the year — not in seasonal cycles — so there is no wrong time to apply.
The process
Eduplace recruits throughout the year. There is no single intake window. If you are considering teaching abroad in the next 6–12 months, apply now. Early registration gives us more time to find the right match.
Yes. Friends may apply together and we will note the request. We cannot guarantee placement at the same school — this depends on each school's requirements and available positions. We will do our best to accommodate the request.
The requirements are established minimums. Exceptions are made, and multiple factors are considered. If you are close to the threshold but not quite there, submit your CV. We will assess your specific situation and advise honestly.
Visa & documentation
The cost of obtaining your work visa in your home country (South Africa) is your responsibility. All costs relating to the work visa in the host country — processing, administration, and related fees — are borne by the school.
This varies depending on the destination country, the time of year, the type of visa, and individual circumstances. We will give you realistic timelines for your specific placement once a position is confirmed. We have navigated this process many times and manage it closely on your behalf.
Most destination countries require a general health check as part of the visa application process. We will advise you on the specific requirements for your country of placement, including where to have the check done and what is assessed.
Airfare & arrival
Airfare is included as part of most Middle East packages. In some cases, the school will require you to pay initially and be reimbursed — this is always disclosed and agreed before your departure. You will never be left out of pocket without a clear reimbursement commitment in place.
Yes. Your preferred departure city is accommodated where possible. In exceptional circumstances, an alternative airport may be necessary — this would be communicated in advance and never imposed without discussion.
Yes. The school sends a representative to meet you on arrival. You will land with a clear point of contact waiting. Before you depart, we prepare you with exactly what to expect on the other side — who will meet you, where to go, and what the first days look like.
Cost to teachers
No. This service is entirely free for teachers. There is no application fee, no placement charge, and no hidden costs at any stage. Eduplace is funded entirely by the schools and institutions we work with. You pay nothing — ever.
